The Morris Animal Foundation got it's start in 1948. The founder, Dr. Mark Morris, developed a food for Buddy, the national ambassador for The Seeing Eye. Buddy was suffering from kidney disease and Dr. Morris developed a diet that significantly improved Buddy's life.
When Dr. Morris and his wife, Louise, could no longer keep up with the demand, Dr. Morris partnered with the Hill's Packing Company to produce the first Hill's Pet Nutrition Diet. Dr. Morris took the royalties from the diet to establish the Morris Animal Foundation, and the first two studies funded, looked at nutrition in cats and dogs.
Today, the Morris Animal Foundation has become a global leader in supporting scientific research that advanced veterinary medicine. Since their founding, they have funded more than 2400 studies in over 150 countries.
